MISSION

The East Texas Chapter of the Texas Society of CPA’s exists to serve its members by identifying the unique needs of CPAs in the chapter area and providing a forum to meet those needs.

LEADERSHIP THEME

For 2007-2008 the TSCPA has introduced a new leadership theme that we at the East Texas Chapter level need to emulate.  The leadership theme was mined directly from the Society’s Strategic Plan.  It is: Communicate, Protect, Advocate.

The East Texas Chapter of the Texas Society of CPA’s will advocate this theme as our primary objective for the 2007-2008 year.

GOALS

For 2007-2008, the East Texas Chapter of the Texas Society of CPA’s will have the following goals to promote this leadership theme.

  I.    Communicate

• Improve communication with members by communicating the value and benefits of membership.  (email newsletter, promote and enhance website)
• Communicate with students the benefits of being a member.  (invite them to join while a student and have them participate in our activities and functions)
• Communicate with public by advertising and providing accounting awareness programs. (Promote TSCPA programs such as 360 Degrees of Financial Literacy Program, “Feed the Pig” program and Money Management U.)
  

  II.    Protect

• Participate in CPA-PAC fund raising campaigns that provide funds to enhance our efforts to communicate with our legislators.
• Participate in public awareness programs that promote the profession
• Provide quality CPE that enhances the professional competency of members.
  

 III.    Advocate

• Publicize our activities in order to promote our public image.
• Promote accounting awareness to enhance student recruitment and public confidence in our profession.
• Encourage local firms and colleges to get involved in internship programs being promoted by TSCPA.
